Who is Diane Hendricks?
Hendricks got pregnant at age 17 and had to finish high school on the farm run by her parents. At the age of 21, she filed for divorce and, as a single mother, worked in a few offices.
“Motherhood was challenging, but it made me grow up really fast,” said Hendricks. “That didn’t stop me from wanting to achieve my dream. In fact, I think I became even more focused on what I wanted to achieve.”
In the 1970s, she met and married building contractor Ken Hendricks🇧🇷 Together they created ABC Supply in Beloit, Wisconsin.
In 1994, the company had 100 units. Four years later, ABC Supply has raised over $1 billion in annual revenue for the first time.
Since her husband’s death in 2007, Hendricks has led ABC Supply. She was at the helm of the company during the two biggest acquisitions in its history:
- Rival Bradco in 2010;
- Building materials distributor L&W Supply in 2016
Currently, ABC Supply has more than 800 units and is the 23rd largest private company in the country with revenues of US$ 15 billion in 2021.
Hendricks still lives in Beloit, a city of less than 37,000 people. According to Forbes, it has spent millions of dollars on local economic development, rebuilding entire city blocks and bringing numerous new businesses to the state.
In 2017, Hendricks opened a local career center where he hosts workshops to teach middle and high school skills like coding and construction.
