MD Chief defeated personalities from the UK, South Africa and France

Rapper MD Chief was elected international new artist in BET Award (Black Entertainment Television Awards), which took place this Sunday (26). Award is intended for black artists only.

Known for the hits “Rei de Lacoste” and “22K”, the rapper was not the only Brazilian member to compete in BET. The singer ludmilla was also nominated, but for the award for best international artist, losing to the Nigerian Tems.

The ceremony also featured protests over the United States Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the law Roe vs Wade, which withdraws the constitutional right to abortion throughout the country. The event also featured a performance by singer Mariah Carey and other black personalities.

Actor Will Smith, who was involved in controversy at the last Oscars slap comedian Chris Rockwon the award for best actor.
