Spotify: Users will have to pay to play random songs; understand

O Spotify announced last Monday, 2, that it will place the “Play” and “Shuffle” buttons (random mode) separated in the app. They currently appear together in users’ playlists.

The purpose of the platform is to address user complaints about playlists. After a review on Spotify’s community forums, users noticed that the buttons were different in the app.

In playlists, Play and Shuffle were together, however, on the desktop, the button was like normal play. Users then suggested that the platform separate the buttons.

The new feature will only be for Spotify Premium subscribers, but the platform fears users will be disappointed to find that the new update is being sold as a justification for raising the price of the service.

Apps like Amazon Music and Apple Music already have these separate buttons. According to the company, as much as the change in the app is just about buttons, it is actually a change in the user’s way, and not encouraging them to migrate to Spotify Premium.
