There are 150 layoffs, 10 of which in the regional operation
The layoffs in the technology universe also reached venture capital funds. Softbank has just made a staff cut that includes part of the operation in Brazil, Pipeline has learned – a signal that the group’s founder, Masayoshi Son, had already given last month.
Globally, there were about 150 layoffs, representing 26% of the team. In the Latam Funds team, mostly concentrated in Brazil, there were 10 people from the then 53 team, according to sources. The layoffs were concentrated in the junior and mid-career team, without affecting the command – Alex Szapiro continues to lead the Brazilian operation.
The information ran fast on WhatsApp from the market this morning, indicating a more inflated number for Brazil. But the cut was limited to those 19% in the region.
Softbank has been making route adjustments after significant losses in listed assets.
