Startup that sells treatments based on clear aligners has increased the number of units opened by five times in the first six months of the year
Considered one of the main healthtechs in the dental sector in the country, smilink registered a increase of more than 100% in the sale of treatments based on clear aligner in the first half of 2022 compared to the same period last year.
According to Marcos Boysen, CEO and founder of Smilink, the reasons for these numbers are diverse. The method, simple and less aggressive than braces device, became popular in 2022. In the last six months alone, there has been a 40% jump in the volume of searches on the procedure on Google.
“Current technology allows aligners to replace brackets in 70% of cases, thus becoming an increasingly considered option among dentists and the public”, explains Boysen.
The intraoral scanner offered by the company is capable of detecting the exact movements that need to be performed on each of the patient’s teeth. Smilink also works with the ClearQuartz™ material, the most suitable for this type of procedure, which adapts perfectly to any dental structure.
The company started the year with 20 units distributed throughout the country and, today, it already has more than 100 establishments open. A year ago, in August 2021, the startup joined the Straumann Group, a Swiss group that develops dental implants and other materials.
The company’s main objective now, according to Boysen, is to bet on the target audience between 25 and 35 years old. “However, we are a democratic brand and we are looking to win in different audiences. For this, Smilink’s objective for this next semester is to continue investing in having the best technology and the best team of dentists”, completes the CEO.
