
Petrobras chooses startups that can obtain as much as R$ 1.5 million to develop options

THE Petrobras released the 23 startups winners of 4th call for the Startups Module, of the Petrobras Connections for Innovation Program, in partnership with Sebrae. The selection, at the national level, received proposals in the areas of: robotics, carbon reduction, digital technologies, corrosion, geological modeling and inspection technologies. The start of the projects is scheduled for December.
Winning companies receive amounts of up to BRL 500,000 for soft tech technological challenges, based on software eventually integrated into mature hardware platforms, or up to BRL 1.5 million for deep tech challenges, which involve advanced research, including based on high-performance software, new hardware platforms and new materials.
In the last three years, the company has invested around R$36 million in the Startups Module of the Petrobras Connections for Innovation program. This module contributes to the development of innovative technologies and services, accelerating the incorporation of innovations in the company.
In previous editions, 37 companies were selected to develop solutions, bringing startups closer to the demands of the oil and gas industry.
According to Petrobras, the winning companies receive financial investment and mentoring to qualify their solutions and evolve their business models. At the end of the projects’ development, there is the possibility of companies becoming Petrobras suppliers, with the potential to scale in the national and international industry.
The Petrobras Connections for Innovation Program has eight different modules: Startups, Technological Partnerships, Technology Transfer, Solution Acquisition, Ignition, Technological Orders, Open Lab and Residents. Petrobras currently has a portfolio of more than BRL 3 billion under contract, with more than 150 technological partners, in the various types of contracting and cooperation agreements, the company said.
