O individual microentrepreneur (MEI) may be among the beneficiaries of the social electricity tariff. This is a discount on the electricity bill, granted by the federal government, to low-income families enrolled in the Single Registrationor who have among their members someone who is a beneficiary of the Continuing Payment Benefit (BPC).

The discount is given according to the consumption range, and varies between 10% and 65%.

According to Agência Câmara, this is what the bill 1377/22 provides. The author, deputy Josivaldo JP (PSD-MA), believes that the measure will support micro-entrepreneurs, who were affected by two years of pandemic.

The proposal that is being processed in a conclusive character will be analyzed by the committees of Economic Development, Industry, Commerce and Services; Mines and Energy; Finance and Taxation; and Constitution and Justice and Citizenship.
