Monetary independence is what motivates Brazilian girls to undertake

Entrepreneurship is a way out for women who prioritize controlling finances

There are several reasons for starting a business: being your own boss, flexible working hours, professional security or fulfilling a dream. The main one, however, is to have financial freedom. For 40% of Brazilian women, this is the biggest factor encouraging them to start a business, according to a survey by Serasa Experian. The second is time flexibility.

446 Brazilian entrepreneurs were interviewed between January and February of this year. The survey showed that most of them (55%) have already achieved the financial independence they dreamed of, and that 57% of them live entirely on the income from their businesses.

The entrepreneurial path, despite this, is almost never simple. Women suffer from difficulties in raising investment, managing other areas of life, such as taking care of the house, children and relatives, and insecurities in relation to their ability to create a business from scratch. And even when they face these obstacles, they feel they have less opportunity than men in the market.

For this reason, and aiming at the success of their businesses, they seek training; 69% of women claim to have prepared themselves to start entrepreneurship and 39% of them want to take courses focused on professional development to enhance the future prospects of their companies.

Motivation to undertake

The search for autonomy over personal and professional life speaks louder, even with this challenging scenario, and is responsible for keeping these women faithful to their ventures. The support of other female entrepreneurs and their encouragement to open a business is also cited as an important source of motivation.

The pandemic, which brought difficulties to entrepreneurs around the world, also boosted the digitization of processes, and influenced 78% of respondents in the decision to open their own business. Communication with customers, forms of payment and the dissemination and delivery of products were facilitated and optimized the processes of entrepreneurs.
