ABF research shows the largest segments, the average return period and the investment of the largest microfranchises in Brazil. Check out:

A survey released by the Brazilian Franchising Association (ABF) shows that microfranchise has been gaining market share and becoming an option within franchisors. THE participation of microfranchises grew 5% and represent 36.9% of total franchises in 2022. In addition, the number of networks with the model grew 40% compared to the previous year.

What are microfranchises?

At microfranchise are businesses with an initial investment of up to R$ 105,000. There are options in different segments and models.

You segments that concentrate the largest number of microfranchises are:

  • Services and Other Businesses (27.4%)
  • Food (16.2%)
  • Health, Beauty and Wellness (15.5%)
  • Microfranchise business plan
  • The ABF survey also identified aspects of the microfranchise business plan. O average payback period ranges from 7 to 16 months, while in traditional models this range is from 17 to 28 months. O average initial investment among microfranchises ranges from BRL 43 thousand to BRL 55 thousandapproximately, with a great variation between the types of point of sale.

  • The study shows a strong expansion of alternative models among microfranchises, mainly home-based.
  • “The models without a physical point of sale, especially the home-based, were boosted in the pandemic. This greatly reduces the initial investment and also provides better integration with personal life. In this area, we observe many franchises for commercial representation and service provision, including digital services”, says Adriana Auriemo, director of microfranchises at ABF.
