Retail industry is a leader in technology adoption
Micro and small companies represent 82% of businesses that most adopt technologies to help business growth. This is what a survey carried out by the company specialized in B2B sales intelligence, Cortex, points out. The study analyzed 1.2 million companies and monitored around 10,000 technological tools. Among the categories analyzed are Cloud Providers, Business Email Hosting, CRM, Marketing Automation, AI Services, Blog, E-commerce, Security, among others.
Of all the companies analyzed, 295,000 were identified with a high rate of technological adoption. Of this total, 68.6% are micro-enterprises; 15.1% are large; 13.4% are small and 2.8% are medium-sized. The numbers indicate how much smaller companies have inserted technologies to facilitate and optimize their daily demands.

The analysis also mapped the sectors that invest the most in technology. Retail and Services took the lead, followed by Finance, Industry and Logistics. In the retail sector, leader in technology adoption, the clothing and accessories trade, food products and pharmaceuticals are the ones that stand out the most.
Most used technology solutions
Cortex’s Director of Innovation, Marvin Fiori, explains that digital transformation is no longer a competitive differentiator, but a necessity: “Investing in technology needs to be part of any company’s strategy so that it can evolve and stand out. In addition to the benefit of facilitating processes and optimizing time, technology, together with data intelligence, is also an excellent source of insights and support for strategic decision-making for the business”.
The Cortex study also mapped the main technology solutions used by companies in Brazil. For e-commerce, for example, we have Shopify, Integrated Store and Wix. As for communication, the most used are Microsoft Teams, Slack and Zoom. But when it comes to productivity and collaboration, the top 3 goes to GSuite, Office 365 and Zoho. For Cloud provider, we have Amazon AWS, Locaweb and Google Cloud. For security, the ranking goes to Symantec, Mcafee and TrendMicro.
