The program is conducted by Gerdau Next Ventures, the acceleration and corporate venture capital arm of Gerdau Next, the company’s new business division.

In addition to Gerdau Next Ventures, the program is also organized by Randon Venturesinitiative of Randon Companies dedicated to investing in startups. The batch is also supported by Liga Ventures, an innovation network for startups in Latin America.

In the last two years, more than 300 startups signed up for the Gerdau Next Ventures acceleration process. Among them, companies in the construction, mobility and sustainability sectors are looking for strategic partnerships for the business.

how the program works

With a duration of 16 weeks, the program works as a long-term mentorship, in which equity free is not required – a model that in market jargon is called equity free. The proposal is to promote open innovation based on the connection between entrepreneurs and executives from Gerdau and Randon, who will mentor the participants.

who can apply

For acceleration, Gerdau is looking for up to six startups in the supply chain and logistics areas, the so-called logtechs, with some business proposal that can add value to the sector. This will be the first time that the program is dedicated to small logistics and supply chain.

The 2020 edition, according to Gerdau, was looking for construtechs in the construction sector, and accelerated five startups in all. In 2021, the focus was on companies linked to sustainability and digitalization in the industry.

On the segment side, Gerdau and Randon seek companies that develop vital solutions for the logistics sector, such as:

  • Inventory and warehouse management;
  • loyalty;
  • Fleet management;
  • Last mile and reverse logistics, among others.

“We hope that the selected startups will help us to increase the efficiency and productivity of the segment, contributing to the solution of great challenges of society”, he says. Juliano Pradovice president of Gerdau.

how to sign up

Startups have until September 4 to apply through the program’s website. The announcement of the selected companies will be made in October.
