The previous record was held by Carioca streamer Casimiro Miguel, who reached 545,000 viewers on Twitch by watching and reacting to the first episode of the Netflix series “Neymar – O Caos Perfeito”
Streamer Alexandre Borba Chiqueta, known as Gauls, broke the record for simultaneous viewers of the Twitch in Brazil by broadcasting the Counter-Strike championship game of the Brazilian Imperial eSports team.
Gaules’ broadcast passed 710,000 viewers. The previous record was held by Rio de Janeiro streamer Casimiro Miguel, who reached 545,000 viewers on Twitch by watching and reacting to the first episode of the Netflix series “Neymar – O Caos Perfeito”.
Excited, Gaules celebrated the feat during the live. “Congratulations, Brazilian community. this from here [recorde] belongs to the Brazilian community. It doesn’t have me, it doesn’t have us, it’s ours. Nobody believes. Only we believe this p****. And that’s why we turn it around.”
Gauls broadcasts the biggest championships of Counter-Strike, attracting fans of the Brazilian teams Furia, MIBR, Imperial and Godsent. It also diversifies its content by adding the complete seasons of the NBA, Stock Car and Campeonato Carioca. More than 62% of the Gauls audience watch more than 2 hours a day of streaming content.
In 2020, the streamer had over 133 million hours watched by 1.7 million followers. Last year, when the streamer saw his number of followers reach 3.1 million, he broke his own record, racking up over 165 million hours watched.
Who is Gauls?
Gaules is 38 years old and is a streamer, youtuber and former professional Counter-Strike player. The influencer has a degree in Marketing. In 2007, he was CS 1.6 world champion as MIBR coach. After retirement and professional disappointments, Gaules suffered from severe depression.
He then began psychological treatment and created Tribe, his channel on Twich. With gameplays and conversations, Gaules found in the streaming profession a way to overcome the disease.
Today, he is one of the biggest streamers in the world on Twitch and the biggest Counter Strike influencer in Brazil. In 2020 he was elected Personality of the Year and Best Streamer of the Year at the eSports Brasil Awards.
He recently started a project with Ronaldo Fenômeno, called “Fenômenos Podcast” and was hired as head of gaming at KaBum!.
