
Constellation buys one other lawtech

Constellation Software bought LDSoft, a company from Rio de Janeiro with almost 30 years of experience in the area of solutions for intellectual property management.
The value of the acquisition, closed by Vela Software, one of the arms of the Canadian group, which has already closed hundreds of acquisitions of software companies with niche solutions around the world, was not revealed.
LDSoft is the fourth company with technology related to the world of law (what is called in the new jargon of “lawtech”) acquired by Constellation in the country in recent years, and the eighth in the overall count.
Headquartered in Niterói, in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro, LDSoft has 800 clients and solutions that help a company with themes such as the so-called “previousness proof”, evidence of an idea was first developed by a certain creator.
In all, there are 2,800 users, in law firms, legal departments, universities and the technological innovation center of companies.
Constellation had already acquired Escriba last year, a software company from Paraná specialized in systems for the notary and registry area.
The other purchases were Kurier, a legal software company from Pernambuco acquired by the group in 2020, and Aurum, from Santa Catarina, developer of the legal software Astrea and Themis, in 2019.
“We understand that the legal technology market in the country is in full growth. We still have many opportunities in this segment in Brazil”, says Paulo Felipe Martins, CEO of Vela Software Latin America.
Constellation is a Canadian company whose business model is to acquire niche software companies, aiming to gain scale by concentrating middle activities and promoting cross-selling.
Since the 1990s, the company has made more than 700 acquisitions around the world and has annual revenues of US$ 4 billion. The portfolio is valued at US$ 35 billion.
