Price freeze is valid until March 11 for Carrefour’s private label categories
O carrefour announced this Thursday, 1st, the freezing of prices of all products of its own brand. The 4,000 items included in this action will feature exclusive visual communication to facilitate identification by customers.
“This is the third consecutive year that we have held a price freeze on private label products, which have the same quality as the leading brands in the market, with prices up to 30% cheaper”, says Victor Guedes, executive commercial director of Carrefour Varejo.
According to the company, the action reinforces Carrefour’s commitment to access to quality food at affordable prices, due to the current economic situation in Brazil.
“We know that this time of year weighs on Brazilians’ pockets and, therefore, we have a more robust action, with 100 days of freezing and more flags available to serve the entire national territory. We work so that our customers can have access to quality products at an affordable price”, says Guedes.
Where will it be valid?
The big news this year is the entry of new banners after the acquisition of the BIG Group, a BRL 7.5 billion transaction approved by Cade in May. The retailer’s expectation is to take private label products to more consumers in all regions of Brazil, with the banners:
- BIG
- BIG Bompreço
- National
- Everyday
- super good price
Which items will have prices frozen?
Carrefour’s own brands include a variety of products, such as:
- Fruits;
- Rice;
- Milk;
- Olive oil (Carrefour);
- Coconut oil and tomato sauce (Carrefour Bio);
- Variety of meats with special cut (Carrefour Selection);
- Tilapia;
- Shrimp;
And other non-food items such as:
- Personal hygiene and cleaning items;
- Companino line aimed at pets;
Currently, private labels represent almost 20% of total food net sales and are at the heart of the company’s strategy.
How long does the price freeze last?
The action starts this Thursday, December 1st, and runs until March 11th in physical stores, in e-commerce and in the Meu Carrefour app.
