
Car manufacturing rises 43.9% in August in opposition to August 2021, says Anfavea

The production of vehicle manufacturers reached in August the highest volume in 21 monthsadding 238 thousand units, among passenger cars, light utility vehicles, trucks and buses. The number exceeds by 43.9% the total for the same month of 2021. In comparison with July, the increase was 8.7%as shown by the balance released this Friday, 9th, by Anfavea, the association that represents the vehicle industry.
It is the largest production of vehicles since November 2020, when 238,200 vehicles were assembled in the country. With the result, the automakers reverse the negative sign and start to show growth of 4.7% in the accumulated since the first day of the year, with 1.55 million units assembled in the first eight months.
Although the irregularity in the supply of parts persists, interrupting part or all of the production in factories of automakers such as Volkswagen and Nissan, the stops have become less frequent, allowing a recomposition of the supply.
Thus, the industry has been able to deliver more cars to fleet customers, especially car rental companies, which allowed the best sales result in the last 20 months in August.
In the sum of all categories, 208.6 thousand vehicles were sold last month, up 20.7% compared to the number a year earlier and 14.6% compared to July.
The daily pace of sales, which was between 8,500 and 8,700 between May and July, passed 9,000 units for the first time this year. Thus, according to Anfavea’s balance sheet, the accumulated market decline since the beginning of the year, which was 12% until July, was reduced to 8%, with 1.31 million vehicles licensed from January to August.
Exports continue to rise, totaling 46,800 vehicles last month, 58.9% more than in August 2021. At the margin – that is, from July to August -, shipments, which have Argentina as the main destination , rose 11.7%. In the first eight months of the year, automakers exported 335 thousand vehicles, which corresponds to a growth of 32.2%.
The Anfavea survey also shows that the automakers opened 255 jobs in August, ending the month with 104,200 people employed. In twelve months, 1,100 jobs were created in the sector.
