
Agricultural producer price index falls in June preview

Deflation was driven by processed foods and manufacturing materials; price of fertilizers and soybean meal also decreased
Agricultural producer prices increased the pace of decline and registered deflation in 0.67% in the second preview of the General Price Index – Market (IGP-M) of June, after retreating 0.05% in the same reading of May, informed this Monday, 20, the Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV). In the period, industrial wholesale prices accelerated from 0.55% to 0.56%.
With the results, the Broad Producer Price Index (IPA-M) dropped from 0.38% in the second preview of May to 0.21% in the 10-day period of June, according to FGV. The total IGP-M accelerated from 0.39% to 0.55% in the period.
In breakdowns by processing stages, all IPA-M categories decelerated. Final goods inflation cooled from 0.65% in the May preview to 0.27% in the June reading, driven by the subgroup of processed foods (0.84% to -0.66%). Intermediate goods also moderated the pace of growth, from 0.87% to 0.79%, driven by materials and components for manufacturing (1.05% to -0.30%).
After registering deflation of 0.37% in the second ten-day period of May, the group of gross raw materials retreated 0.45% in this reading, driven by soybeans in grain (1.63% to -1.37%), pork (12 .96% to -10.60%) and sugar cane (2.0% to 0.44%). On the other hand, iron ore (-2.39% to 0.46%), corn in grain (-3.97% to -1.17%) and wheat in grain (1, 70% to 9.79%).
